Alan Greenberger is a graduate of the School of Architecture at Rensselaer.  A native of New York City, he moved to Philadelphia in 1974 to join Mitchell/Giurgola Architects.  He became an associate of Mitchell/Giurgola in 1980, moved to Australia to join Mitchell/Giurgola & Thorpe, architects for the Australian Parliament House, and rejoined Mitchell/Giurgola in Philadelphia as a partner in 1986.  In 1990, he and several partners at M/G changed the name of the firm to MGA Partners, where he practiced through 2008.  He has been the lead designer on numerous MGA projects including the Department of State National Foreign Affairs Training Center, the West Chester University School of Music and Performing Arts Center, America on Wheels Museum, Lehigh University Linderman Library Renovation, Mann Center for the Performing Arts Master Plan and Pavilions, and the Centennial District Master Plan.  In early 2008, he was appointed by Mayor Michael Nutter to the nine-member Philadelphia City Planning Commission.  Later in 2008, he left MGA Partners to become the Executive Director of the Commission's 49-member staff.  In that capacity, he also chairs the Philadelphia Zoning Code Commission.

Alan Greenberger has been an active board member with several municipal and cultural organizations, including being a co-founder and past Chairman of the Design Advocacy Group of Philadelphia.   He also serves on the faculty of the Department of Architecture at Drexel University and the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania.
