Ms. Fernandez joined the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GPHCC) in March 2006. During her tenure, Ms. Fernandez has grown the Hispanic Chamber to achieve record levels of membership, revenues and oversaw, re-branded the chamber and facilitated the successful delivery of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's 27th annual convention, which brought over 4,000 people to the Philadelphia region with an overall economic impact of $4.5 million. Most important, the Hispanic Chamber has created a voice for Hispanic business in the region. Ms. Fernandez most recently launched the Latino Professional Mentoring Network, an initiative to help Hispanic professionals connect with both executives to receive mentoring, and with Hispanic youth to provide mentoring. Prior to joining GPHCC Ms. Fernandez worked as vice president of external affairs for Congreso de Latinos Unidos, the leading Hispanic social services organization in Philadelphia. She was also a founder of Calle Americana CareerLink, the first and leading bilingual job-seeking center in the state of Pennsylvania.
