Wendella P. Fox, Esquire
Former Chair of the Zoning Board of Adjustments
Wendella P. Fox has been an attorney for more than three decades. She is a graduate of the University of Penn & its Law School. Prior to her tenure with the US Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, Ms. Fox was an attorney in both the public and private sectors. She was appointed as a member of the Philadelphia Zoning Board of Adjustment in 1984. She was both the first female and first African-American to serve as the Chairperson, serving as the Chair from 1985- 1989. Ms. Fox has participated as an officer and board member in various professional, civic, community organizations including the Executive Committee of the Real Property Section and the co-chair of the Zoning and Land Use Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Ms. Fox was the co-course planner for three zoning courses for lawyers: (1993) Zoning Law and Practice in Philadelphia; (1995) Helping Real Estate Clients to do Business in Philadelphia: Working Effectively with City Agencies; and (1995) Definitive Word: Philadelphia Zoning and Land Use Development including Reasonable Accommodation. She is the recipient of many awards and citations including being honored by Project Home with a dedicated room for pro bono zoning services.
