Nick Shenoy moved from India to the United States in 1972 and has since been recognized at the local and national level for his community service work in promoting the visibility for Philadelphia's Asian American population – even receiving an invitation to the White House to meet President Bush. A Registered Professional Engineer, he is President and CEO of S&G Electric Inc, an engineering and construction company. As Chairman of the Pan Asian Association of Greater Philadelphia and the President of Council of Indian Organization in Greater Philadelphia, he organized the first "Festival of India" at Penn’s Landing, the first Asian American Parade in Philadelphia, and the first Gandhi Jayanthi program in City Hall promoting non-violence. He has worked extensively with the Asian and Indian business community, lobbied to provide minority status to Indian American businesses, and participated in the formation of the Asian American Commission. He served as a member of the Pennsylvania Heritage Commission, Mayor Edward Rendell's Asian American Advisory Board, and as Municipal Commissioner of East Whiteland Township.
